Charter of Duties:
Civil Affairs Office is functioning under the direct supervision of General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 In f Div. At the out set, a charter of duties was formulated by the GOC. The main responsibility of this office was to make Liaison between the Army an dt he Civil Administration in performing there habiliation work of surrendered members of "Shantibahini" and the development work of Chittagong Hill Tracts. After the peace Accord of1979, the scope and responsibilities of CAO have been restricted.
At present, the following tasks are performed by the Civil Affairs Office(CAO).
1. To assist GOC in civil matters relevent to counter Insurgency Operation (CIO)
2. To make liaison between the Army and the Civil Administration in maintaining law and order situation of CHT.
3. Maintenance of data regarding demography, cultural and Socio-economic works of CHT.
4. To visit CHT to keep abrest of latest development works of CHT.
5. To collect information of Government officials of CHT
6. To assist GOC in handling data regarding various offices and officers for construction of "GOC Archive."
7. To perform protocol duties at intervals
8. To give opinion regarding the posting proposals of tribal who have been appointed against 1877 posts which were kept reserved for Surrendered members of Shantibahini and tribal people
9. To follow any other instructions/ order given by GOC and M/O CHT Affairs |
