Hill Tracts Region    Bazar Fund Management 

Bazar Fund is a self-earning and a special type of administration in hill districts, created under CHT regulation, 1900 and it is regulated by Bazar Fund Manual, 1937 with the task of Hat & Bazar management. Later on some land & land management activities were vested on Bazar Fund Administration in municipality areas. This administration has been transferred to Rangamati Hill District Council on 19th July 1989. Before 1989, the Deputy Commissioner of the district was the ex-officio Administrator of Bazar Fund. From the time of beginning, the Chairman of the Council is working as ex-officio Administrator of Bazar Fund. 

 

At present there are 48 bazars, (1st class- 22, 2nd class- 20 & 3rd class- 06) in this district controlled by this organization. A bazar choudhury has been appointed for each bazar by Bazar Fund administration as a representative to look after the local management of each Bazar. The land officer of the Council in addition of his charge performing as officer in charge of Bazar Fund Administration.

 

Implementation of various development works in bazars & existing bazar fund areas, establishment of new bazar, management of existing bazar land revenue and rent collection, lease out & settlement of khas land under Bazar Fund Administration are the important task of Bazar Fund. Concerned Union Parishad & bazar choudhury get 20% & 15% commission respectively coming from yearly leased money of concerned bazar. Under the close supervision of the Council, Bazar Fund is taking and implementing different development activities from its own earnings.
