| Profile | : | Mr. Dipankar Talukdar was born on 12th December in 1952 at Bananupa Champaknagor in Rangamati Sadar Upazilla. His father late Hemanta Prashad was a Tribal Welfarae Officer in Pakistan Government of Chittagong Hill Tracts and his mother Bidyut Prova Talukdar was a housewife. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar started his primary education in Rangamati Govt. Police Line Primary School in 1958. He secured 1st Division in 1968 in S.S.C. Examination from Bandarban Govt. High School. He also passed H.S.C Examination with 1st Division from Dhaka College in 1970. In 1974 Dipankar Talukdar achieved honors degree with success from Dhaka University in English literature. On 15th August in 1975 when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated he took active part protesting that barbarian event. So why he could not participate in MA examination. In 1969 he entered into political sphere attending actively in mass revolution. He was also sent in imprisonment for taking part in that movement. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar fought bravely in the liberation was in 1971 and later in 1972 he was elected honourable member in central committee of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL). In 1973 he was also elected BCL's Secretary of International Affairs. Later in the changed situation he took political shelter in India. For 10 years he was in India and then in 1986 he returned to his homeland and was elected the member of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League central committee. In the same year he was also elected General Secretary of Rangamati District Awami League. In the general election of 1986 he acted as the chief coordinator of three constituencies- Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban from Bangladesh Awami League central committee. He was again sent in imprisonment in 1987 for bravely struggling role in establishing democracy and rule of law. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar was also nominated as MP candidate from constituency no. 299, by AL and also elected MP. He was elected MP in 1991 general election from Rangamati and was made the member of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Ministry of Environment and Forest. In 1996 general election he was again elected MP from that constituency. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar was also the honourable member of House Committee of National Parliament, Bangladesh National Education Committee, Parliamentary Standing Committee of Ministry of Establishment, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. The name Dipankar Talukdar will ever be memorable for contribution in the historical Chittagong Hill Tracts peace treaty on 2nd December, 1997. He was elected the member of national committee that was for implementing CHT peace treaty in 1998. He was made the Chairman of CHT Affairs Taskforce and in the same year elected as the Chairman of Rotary Club of Rangamati. Again he was elected the nominee of 2001 general election but he was defeated for many conspiracies but he was reelected the Chairman of Rangamati District Awami League. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar joined in several workshops and conferences different times in many countries. He visited 21 countries including India, China, USA, UK, Japan, France, Soviet Union, and Germany. He was also involved in different socio-cultural and educational institution. In the general election on 29th December in 2008 he has been for the 3rd time elected as MP and on 6th January 2009 he took oath as the State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry of Sheikh Hasina's Cabinet. Mr. Dipankar Talukdar got married with Bita Talukdar and his successful personality with prolonged diversed political life; is the proud father of only one son of Arkopal. |
